Low Pressure Over Bay Of Bengal Intensifies Red Alert Issued For Odisha

A low pressure has been forming over the Bay of Bengal and has intensified as ruled by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). In view of the intensification, IMD has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Odisha on July 1.

The regional MeT Department has forecasted, heavy rainfall across Odisha starting from today taking into consideration that, the low pressure is intensifying and slowly moving towards the west .
Due to this change, a monsoon trap line is caused on the upper part of the atmosphere. As a result heavy to heavy rain is expected to lash Odisha until July 3.

The incessant and heavy rains have forced IMD to issue alert for Odisha. The IMD has also warned possibility of flood triggered by unceasing rains on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi. As a precautionary, people and fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing out until further improvement in the weather conditions.
