Two Minor Girls electrocuted in Odisha’s Jeypore Town

Electric-pole-1Jeypore, Oct 23: In a shocking incident, two minor girls were electrocuted in here on Thursday. Following the incident the festive celebrations become pall in the town.

According to police, Kanak Bhuyan from Mundipadar village under Kotpad block and Pratima Amanatya were electrocuted in front of Vikram Dev College. A live wire fell on them snapping from electric police nearby the college area. The duo came to witness the Dusshera celebrations in Jeypore, which are compared with the Mysore Dussehra.

On Thursday afternoon people were gather at shops in front of the VD College area, some of the people witnessed sparking on an electric pole, panic people started to disperse from there. But the duo girls were struck there due to chaos, they did not get enough time find a safe place to hide. As a consequence as live wire fell on them snapping from the sparking electric pole. Few other sustain burn injuries in the mishap, those were rushed to hospital and under going treatment.

Following the death of two girls here, local people protested and blocked the national highway for several hours alleging negligence of the electricity department officials. However, Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati rushed the spot and intervened into the matter. Bahinipati declared compensation of Rs 25,000 to each deceased girls. After intervention of local MLA, the mob cleared the national highway.
