Show-cause notice issued to VIMSAR Director; asked to proceed on Leave

ONI Bureau:  Under fire for using unproven “Salt Therapy” on patients during surgery, VIMSAR Director Ashwini Pujahari has been issued a show-cause notice to reply within 3 days on the allegations levelled against him.

Pujahari, who had earlier withdrawn himself from surgery after the four-member committee found him guilty, has been asked to proceed on leave till he submits his reply to the notice.

The notice was served by Health Department’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary Pramod Meherda last night.

Earlier, a video showing Pujahari using edible salt in a patient during surgery went viral on social media. The cancer patient reportedly died. Another video showed Pujahari violently patting on back of a patient, creating the impression of playing Tabla.

The junior doctors’ association (JDA) of VIMSAR, who have been on cease-work agitation, had demanded immediate removal of Pujahari.
