Potato price rise in Odisha

The market price of potato in Odisha which was earlier Rs 8 per kg has gone up to rs. 15 within a matter of days. The abrupt rise in potato prices has immediately affected the middle and lower class consumers of the State, though, the traders association has stated that the price rise is a temporary situation and prices will normalise soon.

“Ten to fifteen per cent of potato was damaged due to rain in West Bengal,” said Sudhakar Panda, the secretary of Odisha Traders’ Association. However, the prices will not rise further, Panda assured, he further added.
