Padma Awards To Be Conferred Upon 11 Odias

Much to delight of Odia’s at least 11 Odias are to receive Padma awards. And this has happened for the first time that such highest number of Odia persons have been selected for civilian awards.

Manmohan Mahapatra – (posthumous) Art
Binapani Mohanty – Literature and Education
Radha Mohan and Sabarmatee – Agriculture (In a duo case, the award is counted as one)
Batakrushna Sahoo – Animal Husbandry
Dr Digambar Behera – Medicine
Dr Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik – Literature and Education
Guru Shashadhar Acharya – Art

The highest civilian awards after the Bharat Ratna are the Padma Awards.
