Orissa HC grants conditional Bail to IPS Joydeep Nayak

Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted a conditional bail to tainted IPS officer Joydeep Nayak, after producing a bail bond of Rs. 1 lakh. It also asked the suspended officer to surrender his passport to the concerned investigating agency.

Notably, Joydeep was arrested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the misappropriation of funds worth Rs 88 lakh, which was meant for computer education of SC/ST students and self help groups (SHGs) in Odisha.

A 1991 batch IPS officer of Tripura-Manipur cadre, Jaydeep was on deputation to Odisha since 2012 and had served as IG of State SC/ST Protection Cell and Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) till December 2015, when the alleged malpractice occurred.
