Odisha Rights Activist’s House attacked in Bhubaneswar

CSFHRThe rights body ‘Civil Society Forum on Human Rights (CSFHR)’ has condemned the attack on house of rights activist and lawyer Dr. Subash Mohapatra in Bhubaneswar yesterday. On behalf of CSFHR, rights activist Mr. Akhand has condemned the action and demanded protection to the activist.

“Such attacks on the rights activists are increasing every passing day. But, no strong action is being taken against accused. We also demand a special law for protection of activists,” said Akhand.

Two builders allegedly came to Subash’s rented house at Khandagiri Poilce station limits and inquired about of him. They forcefully entered into the house, attacked two people and ransacked the house in the absence of Subash Mohapatra.

Recently, Subash had filed a petition before the Orissa High Court against the illegal buildings in Odisha violating the government rules. Court has also ordered to demolish those illegal structures.

“We have sought the intervention of National Human Rights Commission in the matter. We prayed for immediate arrest of the culprits and protection to Subash”, said Akhand.
