Naveen ruined Odia Cine Industry: Filmmaker Sisir Mishra

ONI Bureau: Coming down heavily on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Odisha Government, acclaimed Filmmaker Sisir Mishra, who recently got ‘Padma Shri’, lamented that he never got what he deserved.

“I have given everything to Odia film industry, but the Odisha Government never considered me worthy. The Government not only killed Odia Cine industry, but also ruined career of the artists, thanks to its indifference and apathy,” he said while talking to a local TV channel.

Sisir Purushottam Mishra has been named in the list of 2018 Padma Shri awardees in Arts/Cinema category from Maharashtra. “Ironically, the Odisha Government never proposed my name. Or else, I should have been given Padma Vibhushan by now. At the age of 70+, it does not excite me to win Padma Shri”, he added.

“Both JB Patnaik and Biju Patnaik knew me well. I had full access to them, even interacted with them. However, Naveen Patnaik does not know me. He has no interest to learn about Odia culture, heritage and the artists. He is the person responsible for making Odia Cine artists poorer”, he said.
