Introduction of Spoken English from class 1 in all Schools across Odisha

Samir Dash, State School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister announced that a definitive spoken English programme will be initiated for students from Class I in all schools across Odisha soon.

A decision regarding this has been taken keeping in view the mutual understanding among parents and guardians of students for English education of their children. Moreover, importance will be given on English education in 100 Schools of Excellency located in numerous districts.

“Guardians of students are keen to see their wards learn English right from the beginning of their elementary education. While the English curriculum was being introduced from Class III earlier, now we have decided to launch spoken English from Class I. It will help students learn English much better and also improve their fundamentals right from the foundation. The focus will be given to English curriculum in 100 Schools of Excellency,” Samir Dash stated.
