Heat Wave in Odisha, Titlagarh sizzles at 48.5 deg C

heat waveTitlagarh in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday sizzled with a temperature of 48.5 degree Celsisus, the highest in the country, breaking one decade record. Around 17 other places recorded above 40 degrees. Other towns as Sonepur, Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar, Talcher and Bolangir are recorded over 40 degrees.

According to the Special Relief Commissioner’s office 32 death cases were found due to sunstroke only in Titlagarh and death toll raises to 88 in the state.

Sources said, Titlagarh had recorded 50.1 degrees Celsius on June 5, 2003 and 48.1 degrees on April 30, 1999. The heat wave likely to continue till  April 25.
