Gurupriya Bridge In Malkangiri Damaged, PWD Rushes In Panic

The 910-metre Gurupriya Bridge in Malkangiri district that was inaugurated in 2018 was a dream come true for over 30,000 people of the villages that had been cut off from the mainland for nearly six decades. 

As per reports, the guard expansion joint stopped working. And as soon as the news of the damaged surfaced, the Public Works Department (PWD) rushed to the spot to repair.

Malangiri is a Naxal permeated area, hence the situation has caused panic among the locals and authorities, raising concerns for large scale damage.

Although the exact reason is not yet known, plying of heavy vehicles on the bridge is suspected to be the reason behind the damage.
