Demand for HC bench in Western Odisha: Lawyers gherao Judge in Sambalpur

ONI Bureau:  Protests for establishment of a permanent bench of High Court in Western Odisha turned ugly today as the District Judge stopped by lawyers near Court Chhak in Sambalpur.

The agitating lawyers’ gheraoed the Sambalpur District & Sessions Judge today and asked the judge about the decision of the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court regarding establishment of the bench.

It is to be noted that though both Centre and State government agree to set up permanent HC bench in western Odisha, the Orissa High Court is yet to give its consent. But due to ongoing protest called by the lawyers, the judiciary system totally paralysed in the state since September 5. Final decision will be taken after the High Court reopen.
