48-hour ‘Maha Bandh’ over permanent HC bench hits normal life in Western Odisha

ONI Bureau:  Normal life came to a standstill in Western Odisha today following 48-hour dawn-to-dusk ‘Maha Bandh’ on November 29 -30 called by the All Western Odisha Bar Association demanding establishment of a permanent High Court bench in the western part of Odisha.

Various lawyers’ associations including Lawyers in Sundargarh and Subarnapur districts extended their support to Sambalpur Bar Association in two-day protest to press the Centre for the permanent bench of Orissa High Court in the region.

The Sambalpur-Puri and Sambalpur-Rayagada Intercity trains halted at Khetrajpur station as the members of Sambalpur Bar Association staged ‘rail roko’ at the station.

While, vehicular movement was stayed off roads due to the bandh, all educational establishments, shops and other business establishments have remained closed, today in the districts.
