Odisha, Andhra to conduct a joint survey around Vamsadhara water dispute

The State Governments of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh were directed by Vamsadhara River Water Disputes Tribunal to hold a joint survey in the regions which are likely to be affected by the construction of Neredi barrage.

Vamsadhara is an inter-state river that arises from Thuamul Rampur of Kalahandi district Odisha. Locals in Gajapati and Rayagada districts have been resisting the barrage construction claiming that it would cause flooding in the low-lying villages in the districts.
