Kathua Rape And Murder Case Life Term Awarded To The Three Accused

The court finally passed judgment in the brutal rape and murder case of an eight year at a village in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. Six out of seven were convicted by a special court. Three of the prime accused including the master mind Sanji Ram were awarded life imprisonment while the other three were awarded five years term in jail. The seventh accused Sanji Ram’s so was acquitted for lack of evidence.


As per the charge sheet, the girl was kidnapped and held captive at a temple in the village in Kathua district on January 10 last year. The girl was drugged and raped for days without food before being strangulated by the accused persons. The girl’s body was discovered in a forest area on January 17.

The guilty deserved the most severe punishment for such heinous crime. In this light, the court verdict is welcomed.
