UK appoints Cressida Dick as 1st Female Met Police Chief in 187 years

Cressida Dick-1st Female Met Police ChiefSenior British officer Cressida Dick has been appointed as the Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police, the first woman to lead the Scotland Yard as a female chief in 187 year history.

Dick, 56, will take over the charge from Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe who was in charge of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner earlier. He will resign by the end of this month.

The Metropolitan Police is said to be one of the largest police force in Britain having more than 43,000 employees.

Britain’s Home Secretary Amber Rudd said Dick is an exceptional leader and a most powerful police officer who had a clear vision for the future of the Metropolitan Police.
