Sprinter Srabani Nanda bags Ekalabya Award 2016

srabani-nanda-bags-ekalabya-awardOlympian Srabani Nanda has bagged the prestigious 24th Ekalabya Award for the year 2016 for her outstanding performance in the national and international arena.

Nanda received a cash award of Rs 5 lakh and a trophy from legendary track and field sprinter Milkha Singh in the presence of the Chairman of IMPaCT Trust and Kendrapara MP, Baijayant Panda.

Srabani became one of the efficient Odia athlete who compete in 2016 Rio Olympics. She won the silver medal at the Flanders Cup European Club Meet at Oordegem in Belgium on June 5, 2016.

The Sprinter has won gold medal in 200m sprint, silver in women 100m sprint and 4x100m relay in 12th South Asian Games. She also bagged bronze in 100mtr. Sprint and 4x100mtr relay in Asian Grand Prix Athletics at Thailand on June 2015.

Notably, the Ekalabya award was instituted by IMPaCT, a charitable wing of IMFA group in 1993. This prestigious award is presented to a person for outstanding performance in Sports within the State of Odisha.
