Kanpur Test: India holds edge over New Zealand on Day 3

ravindra-jadeja-2409India took firm command over New Zealand in the first Test match in Kanpur at the end of third day’s play. They now sense victory while the Kiwis are set to lose this one unless rain god takes mercy on them.

In reply to India’s first innings score of 318 (Vijay 65, Pujara 62, Ashwin 40), New Zealand bowled out for 262. Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (4 wickets) and Ravindra Jadeja (5 wickets) did the trick. Latham (58) and Williamson (75) were the top scorers. New Zealand were 159/1 at one stage.

In the second innings, India finished at 159/1 at stumps, extending the lead to 215. Rahul was out for 38. Vijay (64*) and Pujara (50*) are at the crease.
