Supreme Court orders Rs 3 lakh more compensation to Kandhamal Riots victims

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed Odisha government to pay additional compensation of Rs. 3 lakhs to each family of 2008 Kandhamal communal riot victims who suffered heavy losses in the communal strife.

The Supreme Court directed State government to provide Rs 30,000 compensation to seriously injured, Rs 10,000 to partially injured persons.

The apex court also ordered the Centre and the State Government to pay Rs 70,000 to people with complete damaged house, Rs 50,000 will be given by the State, Rs 20,000 by the Centre.
