State SEC hikes expenditure limit of Candidates in Panchayat Polls

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday increased the expenditure limit of the candidates for upcoming 3-tire panchayat polls in Odisha going to be held in February, 2017.

The expenditure limit of Zilla Parishad candidates has been increased to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh and it has been finalized at Rs 80,000 for Panchayat Samiti members.

Earlier on yesterday the Panchayati Raj Department of Odisha Government issued a notification on its preparedness for the Panchayat Elections.

The State Government also notified of its preparedness to the State Election Commission (SEC).

In this connection, the government has also decided to issue the gazette notification on December 23 regarding the matter.
