State Election Commission begins Process for Panchayat Polls in 25 Districts

The State Election Commission (SEC) has begun the preparations for the panchayat polls in 25 districts of Odisha. The rest five districts include Balasore, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nuapada, where the decision of the state government to create 188 new Panchayats is under sub-judice.

The state government is waiting for the verdict of the court after which it will take a final decision”, SEC Secretary Rabindranath Sahu said.

Sahu further said, the State government has planned to create 603 new panchayats across the state, of which 415 of the new Panchayats are coming under the 25 districts where processing works have begun.
