Radio Choklate Presents ‘Diary Of A Housewife’

Odisha’s no.1 FM station Radio Choklate 104 FM celebrates the spirit and dedication of home-makers on the occasion of Housewives Day on Nov. 3 with the launch of a programme titled ‘Diary of A Housewife’.

Scheduled to air Monday-Friday at 12 noon, this show is a monologue that lets the listener peep deep into the heart of a woman who has engrossed herself in ceaselessly maintaining the cogwheels of the household and lives of those around her, at the cost of her own comfort, expectations and aspirations.

Even though, over the years and with practice, a housewife has mastered the art of working with robot-like precision of taking care of everybody’s needs, she is someone who races the clocks to make everyone happy, yet has no time for herself. With the world around her, too busy being busy, this show chronicles the musings of a housewife who has turned to the comforting pages of her diary to vent out the sentiments oozing out of her and turns it into a confidant—a patient listener, a keeper of memories and uncommunicated feelings and a soothing presence to express to. “We have been working on this content for a long time now.

The idea was to develop a women-centric show, but something that everyone can relate to. We wanted to take a break from the usual cookery, beauty, household tips kind of content that the afternoon band is associated with. This show is sure to strike a chord with both women and men. We have been getting extremely positive responses from the audio previews,” says Tanaya Patnaik, Executive Director of Radio Choklate.

A housewife, (or home-maker, to be politically correct) is just like the air we breathe; essential, yet scarcely noticed. With the ‘Diary of A Housewife’ series, Radio Choklate (radio venture of Eastern Media Limited, the flagship brand of Sambad, Odisha’s largest circulated Odia daily) aspires to let the home-makers know that their story is worth telling and the world should be reminded to acknowledge and be obliged to these women for the hours of unwavering commitment, persistent diligence, innumerable compromises, unconditional love and care that they shower on us, so that we can go out and brave the world away from our comfort zone. The repeat broadcast of this series is slated Wednesday to Sunday at 12 midnight.
