Prasad Harichandan flags off ‘Bhim Jyoti Rath’ in Bhubaneswar

Bhim-Jyoti-YatraOdisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Prasad Harichandan has flagged off the ‘Bhim Jyoti Rath’ from the Congress Bhavan in Bhubaneswar yesterday to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Prasad Harichandan hailed Babasaheb Ambedkar as the champion of dalits, tribals and downtrodden in the society and said the legendary leader has ensured that such people are never subjected to injustice again. “If the poor and downtrodden people are getting some benefits today, it has become possible only due to the efforts of Dr. Ambedkar,” he added.

He further claimed that the Congress Party always sought to work for the poor and dalits while following the principles of Dr. Ambedkar. He accused the BJD Government in Odisha of diverting the funds meant for STs and SCs to other sectors and blocking their progress.

Bhim-Jyoti-Yatra1Prasad urged the Congress workers to fight for the cause of Dalits and Adivasis at the ground level. Apart from Prasad Harichandan, PCC SC Cell Chairman Krushna Chandra Sagaria, former PCC President Jayadev Jena, Congress Media Cell Chairman Prof. Kailash Acharya and Mahila Congress President Sasmita Behera were present at the meeting and spoke on various aspects of Babasaheb Ambedkar and his principles/contributions.

Among others, senior Congress leaders Lulu Mohapatra, Suresh Routray, Sibananda Ray, Dr. Judhisthir Jena, Rabindra Kumar Sethi, Subhendu Mohanty, Sulochana Das, and many youth leaders were present at the flagging off ceremony.
