Poll Violence continues in various parts of Odisha

Poll violence-OdishaSeveral people were injured, voting cancelled, and people boycotted polls as poll related violence continued unabated in different parts of Odisha during the ongoing fifth and final phase of Panchayat elections.

In an unfortunate incident during fifth phase polling, two persons, including a Sarpanch candidate, were killed and many others injured in Ganjam district as a result voting process was cancelled in Brahmanchhai gram panchayat, while a Congress Zilla Parishad candidate was attacked by his opponents in Kalahandi distirct today morning.

Meantime, voting has been cancelled in two booths of Bantar gram panchayat in Jajpur district as symbols of two Sarpanch candidates were missing in the ballot papers.

In yet another poll incident, voters of Tumangapadar village under Gajapati district’s Mohana block have boycotted polls protesting their exclusion from Chudangapur gram panchayat which was near to their village.
