Paika Rebellion 200: Dharmendra Pradhan gets rousing Welcome

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan received a rousing welcome at Bhubaneswar Airport today for taken up the issue with Prime Minister for celebration of 200 years of Paika Bidroha in a grand way. Paika Rebellion of Odisha will get national recognition by the Centre.

Government of India will take steps to involve all sections of people in Odisha and other parts of the country including New Delhi to celebrate 200 years of Paika Bidroha.

Paika Bidroha or Paika Rebellion was an armed rebellion against the British East India Company’s rule in Odisha in 1817.  A large scale revolt had taken place in Odisha in the leadership of Bakshi Jagabandhu, projecting Lord Jagannath as the symbol of Odia unity.
