farmers-suicideCuttack, Nov 10: There is no sigh of abate in farmers’ suicide in Odisha despite state government’s assurance to the distress farmers. One more farmer ended his life in the district of Cuttack on Tuesday due to crop loss and loan burden.

As per reports, Sanjay Pradhan of Patanda village in Atagarh block of Cuttack district ended his life following crop loss and debt burden. He had consumed poison on November 5, as his suffered crop loss due to drought.

His family members had admitted to Atagarh health centre, later he was shifted to SCB Medical College, where his condition deteriorated further. He breathed his last on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment.

Notably, the state government had declared Rs 1,000 crore special drought package for farmers, directed banks to go soft on loan recovery from farmers and assist farmers for availing loans further.
