Odisha seeks Rs 5,870 crore in Railway Budget 2017-18

Naveen PatnaikOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to allocate Rs 5,870 crore for Odisha in Railway Budget for the year 2017-18 for strengthening and expanding rail infrastructure in the State.

In a letter to Railway Minister the Chief Minister urged to upgrade passenger amenities at Puri, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Khurdha stations.

Earlier, Odisha had sought Rs 5,000 crore in the Railway Budget 2016-17 and received Rs 4,682 crore, which is the highest-ever central allocation for the State in any Railway budget till date.
