Odisha Police arrest 6 Servitors for attacking Media persons during Niladri Bije

Odisha Police has arrested six servitors for attacking media persons leading to disruption of the Niladri Bije ritual of the three deities for over an hour on Sunday.

The District Collector, Arvind Agrawal has lodged two FIRs with the SP Sarthak Sarangi against six servitors who had misbehaved, abused and threatened him in a rough language while protesting the climbing of women on chariot. He was present at the spot, and had a squabble with some servitors regarding the issue.

The pahandi of Sudarsana was disrupted for an hour during the Niladri Bije of the deities, the way back from the chariots to Ratna Sinhasana of the Shri Jagannath temple.

The media persons were attacked by the servitors when they tried to find the reasons behind the delay in Pahandi, and the argument between the District Collector and the servitors which led to delay in Niladri Bije ritual.

On the other hand, Journalists from the state wide protested over the attack on media persons during Niladri Bije ritual demanded to arrest the servitors immediately.
