Odisha Panchayat Polls: BJD wins Big in Ganjam, Koraput, Bhadrak, Puri

Naveen-BJD-BijuWhile the BJP made strong inroads into rural areas of Western Odisha, KBK region and North Odisha, the BJD halted its march in most parts of coastal districts and South Odisha. The ruling party is leading towards a landslide victory in those areas.

In Ganjam, senior BJD Leader Surjya Narayan Patro worked hard along with other leaders to ensure the party’s success in the district. Being CM Naveen Patnaik’s home district, Ganjam has been the key region for one and all. Out of 60 Zilla Parishad zones that went to polls in four phases, BJD has won 54 zones so far. The BJP has won 4 zones, while Congress has won just one. Rest of 9 zones will go to polls in the last phase tomorrow.

In tribal dominated Koraput district, BJD has done better as compared to 2012. The party has won 21 out of 25 ZP zones so far. BJP has won one seat in the district, while Congress has won 3 seats. Remaining 4 seats will go to polls in the last phase.

In Bhadrak, BJD has not given a chance to any other party so far. They have won all 24 out of 24 zones in the district till date. Four more seats will go to polls in the last phase.

BJD has not left any big space for BJP and Congress in Puri too. They have won 26 out of 28 ZP Zones till date. BJP has won 2 seats, while Congress is yet to open its account. Remaining 5 zones will go to polls in the last phase.

In Jajpur, BJD has won 29 out of 32 ZP Zones till date. BJP has won 5 Zones there. Remaining 5 seats would go to polls tomorrow. In Cuttack, BJP tried hard, but could manage to penetrate into the area of Debi Mishra only. BJD has won 29 out of 39 zones in the district so far. BJP has won 9 zones. Congress has not opened its account yet.
