Odisha Govt to introduce Odia Curriculum and Lower Odia Test for NROs

Naveen PatnaikThe State Government has decided to introduce for the first time Odia curriculum and lower Odia test for the desirous Odia students living overseas and outside the state of Odisha. The lower Odia test will be equivalent to 7th Class standrad.

This facility will be extended to Non-Resident Odias living in outer countries and to resident Indians residing outside Odisha as well. The introduction of Odia curriculum for Non-Resident Odias was a long standing demand by the overseas Odia associations. Recently the Odisha Society of the Americas had made a request to the Hon’ble Chief Minister in this regard which will promote

Odia language abroad. Odisha Society of the Americas as well as i-Gurukul of Sanfransico had emphasized about this to Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister, Industries, School & Mass Education and the delegation during its visit to Silicon Valley, USA. i-Gurukul is imparting Odia education and Odissi dance in USA for last 16 years. With this introduction of Odia curriculum and test, the second generation Odia living outside Odisha will get scope to learn their mother language.

The Odia curriculum for the Certificate Course has been developed and uploaded in the website (www.bseodisha.nic.in) of Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The test will be online which may conducted once or at best twice a year by BSE, Odisha. An announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik today.
