Odisha Govt to focus on Skill Development for School Students

Naveen PatnaikThe Government of Odisha has introduced vocational education system like IT and automobile in 30 schools in first phase during 2015-16 academic year to make students self dependant.

Meanwhile the state government is going to sign an MoU with Wadhwani Foundation to begin self development training programme in the State-run schools in 284 blocks from all 314 blocks.

US based Wadhwani Foundation is currently providing self development training programme in neighbouring countries including Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as several states  of ourcountry such as  Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jharkhand.

As per the report, syllabus has been prepared in total 40 subjects under the skill development programme. The roadmap will be finalized and decision will be taken by Project Approval Board (PAB) of the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

“For skill development of the school students across the state, in the 2016-17 academic session the project will start in one school in each block from remain 284 blocks, where the students will be provided self development training like IT and automobile”, said School and Mass Education Minister Devi Prasad Mishra.
