Odisha Congress demands to include Real Beneficiaries in NFSA

congress party press meetBhubaneswar, Nov 17: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) alleged that as many as 90 lakh deserving beneficiaries were excluded from the first-phase list of National Food Security Act (NFSA). The NFSA first phase has been rolled out in 14 districts from Monday.

Addressing a press conference here, OPCC President, Prasad Harichandan said that around 90 lakh deserving beneficiaries were been not listed in the first-phase of NFSA. He demanded the state government to include these real beneficiaries. He alleged that the state government has delayed the implementation of the scheme by two years.

Over farmers’ suicide in the state, the president said that the state government has failed in safeguarding the interest of farmers and saving lives of distressed farmers. Harichandan slammed the BJD government for not implementing the report of the Farmer Commission. He termed the statement made by BJD MLA Pramila Mallik as ‘unfortunate’.

Harichandan told media persons that under ‘Padayatra’ the party members will march from Manoharpur to Salepur of Cuttack district on November 21 and on November 30 from Adapada to Sankhemundi in Ganjam district.
