Nearly 100 Pigeons died in Kendrapara Dist, Bird Flu Scare rises

pigeonAround hundred pigeons have found dead in Kendrapara district. The locals suspected bird flu is the reason behind the deaths as many parts of Odisha are reeling under the impact of the virus.

A team of veterinary surgeons has rushed to the village and blood samples have been collected for laboratory test.

Notably, animals and winged species are dying almost every day in Mahakalpada tehsil.

While, Chief District Veterinary Officer, Chaitanya Kumar Sethy said the death of pigeons might be due to ‘Ranikhet’, a virus-borne disease which leads to death of winged species. Exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the test, Sethy stated.
