Make ‘Sachet’ Portal available in vernacular, Odisha suggests RBI

UntitledGovernor Reserve Bank of India Dr Raghuram G. Rajan inaugurated the web portal called Sachet from RBI head quarters in which Chief Secretary, Odisha Sri Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary Finance Sri R. Balakrishnan along with Special DG Crime Sri B.K. Sharma participated through a video conference from Odisha State Secretariat.

Inaugurating the website Dr Rajan said that Sachet would be helpful for the regulators in quick follow up of the unlawful money collection activities. It would also enable the people to get information regarding the financial entities that are allowed to accept the deposits. People would also get the space to lodge complaints and share information regarding illegal collection of deposits by unscrupulous entities in their areas.

RBI sources said the website would also help real time coordination among the regulating authorities, State Governments of all States, State Level Coordination Committees (SLCCs) and enforcement authorities. The SLCCs can share market intelligence and other information relating to their activities, agenda & minutes of their meetings across the country through this website.

Replying to a media query after the inauguration, Development Commissioner, Sri Balakrishnan said that we suggested RBI to make the website available in vernacular languages so that people of various regions could take maximum benefit out of it.

The SLCC of Odisha is meeting under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary very regularly. Odisha has taken up a number of awareness building and enforcement activities to curb illegal money collection. All districts have been provided Rs.1 lakh each for intensifying awareness activities at village and Panchayat levels. Sri Balkrishnan further said that this website would be more helpful for SLCC in its awareness building and enforcement activities.

Director Institutional Finance, Govt of Odisha Sri Tapan Kumar Pradhan also joined this inaugural ceremony.
