Mahanadi Row: Congress calls for Odisha Bandh on Aug 16

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan on Friday announced to observe dawn-to-dusk Odisha bandh on August 16 protesting against the unilateral construction of barrages by the Chhattisgarh government in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi River.

The Bandh call was announced after a meeting of senior leaders of the Congress party.

The OPCC President blamed both the State government and Centre for not taking any steps to resolve the Mahanadi water disputes between Odisha and Chhatisgarh . He also alleged that the BJD government has indulged in creating  politics over the Mahanadi issue.
