Kandhamal Killings: Tribals and Dalits hold Protests in Baliguda

Mass protest is being organized by tribal and dalit organizations from across the state in Baliguda today, against the shocking killing of five innocent villagers including an infant by the SOG Jawans during the combining operation at Gumudumaha on July 8.

The rally will begin from the Baliguda mini stadium and end at the sub collector’s office where the tribal and dalit leaders will address the gathering. A memorandum will be submitted by the protestors to the sub collector which is addressed to the President of India and Governor of Odisha.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Baliguda in view of this mass protest against the killings. To maintain law and order, 4 DSPs, 50 officers and 25 platoons of police force have been deployed. Several leaders and activists, including Prafulla Samantara, Bhajaman Behera, George Tirkey and Nakul Nayak, are present at the rally.
