JSPL Foundation feeds 25000 Devotees during Ratha Yatra at Puri

JSPLJSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of leading steel maker Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL), served freshly cooked food to more than 25000 visitors at Puri during Rath Yatra. People were given rice, dalma and khatta at a temporary shed, near the Railway Station of the town, in coordination with the District Administration, Puri.

This activity started on July 05 evening  with one  free meal and safe chilled drinking water dispensed  from a  refrigerated mobile drinking water . More than 7000 people availed the service. This continued on Rath Yatra Day July 06 with two meals; one during the lunch hour and the other at the evening. The foundation provided staple food to more than 18000 devotees visiting the grand festival on the day of Rathyatra .

“Millions of pilgrims, drawn from the entire country and parts of the Globe gather at Puri during the 10 days Rath Yatra Festival. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath we are trying our best to serve the poor and underprivileged devotees with freshly cooked staple food and safe  refrigerated drinking water. I pray to Lord of the Universe, Sri Jagannath, to shower His divine blessings upon all my countrymen and the entire Humanity”, said Shallu Jindal, the  Chairperson, JSPL Foundation.

JSPL Foundation-PuriThe organisation also engaged a customised  vehicle of 1000 litres capacity for dispensing refrigerated  drinking water in the Holy city of Puri. Charged multiple times, every day it provides 4000  Ltrs of chilled drinking water. This service will continue till Sunabesha on July 15, 2016.

The Foundation will also provide Food Service to the devotees on Bahuda Yatra ( Lord’s Retreat Festival )  and Suna Besha ( Lord on Gold attire )  day. It has set a target to feed about 50,000 people during this Rath Yatra Festival at Puri. Availing the services, Head of a groups of saints from Vrindavan, Swamy Sadananda ji Maharaj who were in Puri for Rathyatra said, “I am impressed with the hygiene, test of the food and the clean ambience maintained at the venue of Food dispensation by JSPL Foundation ”

Last year during Nav Kalebar Rathyatra  Festival  at Puri  JSPL Foundation served free food to 1.5 lakh devotees with refrigerated drinking water and provided 50 mobile toilets for the devotees.
