IT Industry shifting focus to Tier-2 Cities like Bhubaneswar, Mysore

By Tapan Moharana: With top IT cities of the country like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune are reaching to a saturation point, the IT industry is focusing more on the Tier-2 cities like Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh and Mysore etc. More and more IT companies are investing in these cities and the trend is expected to accelerate in the coming years.

“The top IT cities of our country like Bangalore and Pune have reached a saturation point in terms of availability of infrastructure and resources. So IT companies are focusing more in the Tier-2 cities like Bhubaneswar, Mysore or Chandigarh. Over the years Bhubaneswar have become an ideal destination for the IT industry due to its good infrastructure and availability of skilled manpower” said Rahul Varma, Founder of leading software testing company Test mile-Talent Reboot.

Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha has become a fast growing IT city of the country and top IT companies like TCS, WIPRO, Mindtree, Infosys, Mahindra Satyam have opened their development centre’s in the city. In the last financial year (2015-16) Odisha has registered 18% growth in software exports surpassing the national average of 11%.

Though he praised Odisha government for its investment friendly policies, he has suggested the state government to take more measures to simplify the procedures to attract more investments. It should also formulate specific policies keeping in view the small and midsized IT firms.
