Denied a Mortuary Van, Man walks 10 km carrying Wife’s Body

A man, along with his 12-year-old daughter, on Wednesday walked around 10 km carrying his wife’s body on his shoulder as he had failed to get a vehicle to transport his wife’s body from the government hospital at Bhawanipatna, 60 km away from his village.

Reportedly, a 42-year-old woman Amang Dei, who was being treated for tuberculosis died at the headquarters hospital.

Later, Amang’s husband, Dana Majhi was spotted by some media persons who called up the district collector and arranged an ambulance for the remaining journey. Expressed his grief, District Collector Brunda D said the family will be provided an assistance under the Harishchandra Yojana and the Red Cross fund.
