BJP continues to surge in 5th Phase Panchayat Polls in Odisha

bjpIn continuation with the trend in the last four phases, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has moved ahead in the fifth and final phase too, by leading in nearly 40% of the total seats that went to polls today.

As per the trends received so far, BJP is leading in 58 Zilla Parishad Zones, while BJD is ahead in 70 seats. Congress is leading in 12 seats. Others are ahead in 4 seats. Soumya Ranjan Patnaik’s Ama Odisha Party is leading in two seats in Khandapada, Nayagarh.

BJP is heading for a big win in Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Kalahandi. The party is doing well in Kendrapara, Dhenkanal and Balasore too.

The BJD is leading in Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar and Nuapada. There is a tough fight between BJD and BJP in Dhenkanal to form the Zilla Parishad there.

BJD is currently assured of 12 Zilla Parishads and may add 4-6 to its kitty today. BJP has won 8 ZPs and trying its best to add Dhenkanal to its tally. Congress has won Jharusuguda and trying to win Gajapati.
