All District Collectors asked to accomplish IHHL targets for 2016-17

Collectors of all districts have been asked to complete Individual Household Latrine (IHHL) targets for 2016-17. Development Commissioner Sri R. Balakrishnan advised the Collectors to constitute special teams and carry forward the work in a mission mode.

Collectors were said that funds for 2016-17 would be released soon and they should go ahead with the works. Around Rs.598 cr will be released to all districts as per their targets.

Secretary Rural Development Sri Madhusudan Padhi informed the Collectors that the government is actively considering a system for 3rd Party evaluation of the open defecation free (ODF) villages, changes in habits of the people and use of toilets there.

Therefore, Collectors were advised to ensure self certification from the concerned ODF village, GP or block. The inter- block certification would be done by District Water & Sanitation Committee. Secretary Sri Padhi has also asked the Collector to upload the photos of the completed toilets along with its beneficiary and location.
