President Pranab Mukherjee receives Highest Civilian Award of Ivory Coast

Pranab Mukherjee, President of IndiaPresident Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the highest civilian award of Ivory Coast, the ‘National Grand Crois’, on Tuesday.  The award was conferred on him during his two days visit to the West African country.

Mukherjee’s visit is the maiden visit of an Indian President to Ivory Coast. On the first day of his two day visit to the nation, Mukherjee held one-to-one dialogue with his counterpart Ouattara which was followed by delegation level talks.

During the talks, President Mukherjee underlined the need to reform global organisations. Both countries also signed Headquarters agreement for re-establishment of Exim bank regional head quarters in the Ivory Coast.

Mukherjee also attended state Banquet hosted by Ivory Coast President ,where common issues like terrorism, climate change and sustainable development were discussed.

Later addressing a gathering at the Banquet, the President reiterated that India will remain the partner in assisting the West African nation in its economic development and growth.
