NRIs, Indians Abroad to show Old Notes to Customs at Airport

old-notesThe Finance Ministry today declared that the NRIs and Indian Nationals abroad can deposit up to Rs 25,000 of old Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes, if they show the junked notes to Customs officials at the airport and get declaration form stamped.

The Government has offered a grace period of three months for Indian nationals who are travelling abroad that is till March 31 and for NRIs, it is six months till June 30, 2017.

While, those Indians are returning from Nepal and Bhutan have no permission to carry SBNs of old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes.
