Vyapam Scam: SC cancels Admission of over 600 MBBS Students

supreme court Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the admission process of over 600 students, who enrolled in five year MBBS course in Madhya Pradesh during 2008-2012. The apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India J.S. Khera, dismissed all the petitions filed by the students, denying interfering with Madhya Pradesh High Court Order.

The Apex court denied showing any sympathy to the students to take up the medical profession despite holding their admissions as illegal. The students had urged the court that they had studied hard for five years and cleared all the internal college exams.

Hundreds of applicants had appeared for the pre-PG medical entrance test conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), or Vyapam.  However, it was found that majority of the applicants had morphed their photographs in the online application forms and impersonators had appeared for them as proxies.

The Vyapam scam considered to be the one of India’s biggest corruption scandals that involved 13 different exams conducted for selection of medical students and state government employees. Besides, top state BJP leaders and ministers are also accused in the multi-crore scam that are being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
