Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar sworn in as 44th Chief Justice of India

Justice Jagdish Singh KheharJustice Jagdish Singh Khehar sworn in as the 44th Chief Justice of India (CJI) by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

Khehar (64) is a judge of the Supreme Court of India since 13 September 2011 and will retire on 27 August 2017 on turning 65 years in age.

Khehar is the first Sikh to hold the apex office. He succeeded Justice Tirath Singh Thakur.
