First ever Apolitical National Women’s Parliament begins in Amaravati

The first ever apolitical National Women’s Parliament (NWP), organized by Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, on Friday began in Amaravati, the new capital of the state. The main theme of three-day long conference is ‘Empowering Women for Nation Building.

Eminent women personalities from diverse walk of life including social and corporate women leaders of India and overseas will share their experiences with the young girls.

An ‘International Woman Icon of the World’ award and 12 best young achievers awards for women in different fields will be presented at the NWP.

Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama attended the inaugural session. A host of leaders from India and abroad including Union Minister for Information Broadcasting and Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury have also graced the occasion.
