Delhi Government presents pro-people Budget 2016-17

Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia presented the second budget of Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi Government. Apex industry body ASSOCHAM hails Delhi Budget 2016-17 as ‘pro-people’ and ‘revolutionary’.

Key Highlights:
* Total Budget Estimates: Rs 47,600 crore.
* Rs 10,690 crore earmarked for Education.
* Rs 1,735 crore for Transport sector.
* 5 new bus depots to be set up. Anand Vihar Bus Depot to be modernised.
* Rs 10 crore for Aam Aadmi Canteens.
* Rs 100 crore for CCTV cameras in all government school classrooms.
* Rs 6,919 crore provided to 3 Civic Bodies.
* Rs 350 crore allocation for the Citizen Local Area Development (CLAD) scheme.
* VAT reduced to 5% from 12.5% on electric vehicles, sweets and ready-made garments. These items will become cheaper now.
