BJP, SP Leaders indicted in 2013 Muzaffarnagar Riots Case

The one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice Vishnu Sahay, who was probing the Muzaffarnagar riots case, has indicted local leaders from the Samajwadi Party and BJP for the mayhem, which left over 60 people dead and thousands displaced in August 2013.

Apart from indicting the political leaders, the report also blamed the SHO of a local police station and other cops for failing to control the situation despite full knowledge of the situation.

The report, which was submitted to the Governor, will be forwarded to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for further action. The 775-report is in six parts. The commission recorded the statements of over 476 people, including 100 officials.
