Govt soon to launch BPO Call Centres in Rural Areas: Ravi Shankar Prasad

rs-prasadIn an aim to empower and digitally connect with the common man in rural areas,the Narendra Modi Government will soon be launching Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) call centres in villages across the country, said the Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology on Monday, while addressing the Networking workshop on India BPO Promotion Scheme under Digital India Programme in New Delhi.

As many as 78 BPO companies have so far expressed interest in setting up the call centres in village areas in different part of the country, he added.

The Minister also claimed that The BPO is the fastest growing sector in the country and it has enormous potential to provide its services in Indian languages. He said that the government is making efforts to bring digital revolution and the BPO sector can be helpful in this regard.

Prasad appealed the Indian firms to become part of Make in India initiative. He said that the IT Industry and the Government needs to work as partners in promoting innovation and further development of the IT industry.
