DAV Savitri Jindal High School observes 2nd Annual Athletic Meet
2nd Annual Athletic Meet of DAV Savitri Jindal High School has been organized on 6th January, 2017 at Badamahitala, Angul. The programme kick started with hoisting of school flag and rendition of school song by the students, followed by a torch rally and march past by the students.
Mr. J.L.N. Murty, VP-CCD, JSPL, Angul graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest and administered the oath for the event. Mr.S.N.Hota, Head Master- DAV Savitri Jindal School welcomed the guests to school.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Murty emphasized the importance of sports in the life of a student for comprehensive development. Students should focus more on the participation and winning or losing is a part of the game, added Mr. Murty.
Students of DAV Savitri Jindal High School participated in different sports events with great zeal and sportsman-spirit. A huge gathering of parents from the local community, school staff, guardians and pupils enjoyed the event with great enthusiasm and encouraged the players. Attractive mass drill, aerobics, yoga and Folk dance by students followed by a volley of athletic track events with more than 300 participants in the field race were deftly conducted under the guidance of Mr. Krushnakant , Sports teacher of the school.
The valedictory session was chaired by Mr. Praveen Kumar- Head- HR&ES- Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. Mr. Kumar appreciated the school management initiative in making their students sports friendly which is the need of the hour. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Students should pay same priority to sports as study, said Mr. Kumar.
District Sports Officer Mr. Mahendra Sahu attending the valedictory ceremony as the Chief Guest, presented the medals and trophies to the winners and appreciatively said that the school has ample sports talents and they should be linked with selection process of Sports Hostel of Odisha.
A total of 42 events were organized, categorized into 4 sub-categories i.e Mini Sub Junior, Mini Junior, Junior and Senior. Various cultural programmes were also organized on the occasion.
Mrs. Dipti Rekha Das of DAV Savitri Jindal High School conveyed vote of thanks on the occasion. Among others, Mr. Chhanda Charana Das, Principal, O.P. Jindal School, Angul, Mrs. Pupalata Satapathy –DGM CSR – JSPL, Dr. B.K.Das- Chief Medical Officer- OHC- JSPL, Mr. Tapas Mohanty Sports Officer- CSR, Mr. Nilendu Chatterjee, AGM, Ms. Ritamoni Borah – Deputy Manager-CSR and Teachers from DAV Savitri Jindal High School Mrs Surabhi, Mrs Madhusmita, Mrs Arati, Mrs Srumtirani, Mr. Suryakant Baral, Mr. Chittaranjan were also present on this occasion.
